I walked into the classroom. I had never really talked to her, but I felt the urge to say something. “So I heard you’re captain now.” As I was about to congratulate her, she turned away and said “Yeah, yeah. Congratulations. Thanks.” At that moment, I could feel a storm of anger hurling inside of me. How could someone possibly be so ungrateful? I stood up and hurried myself out of the classroom. My head was spinning; I couldn’t help but feel frustrated with everyone. As I sat outside contemplating everyone’s stubbornness and ignorance, I felt someone slide onto the bench from my left. I turned my head and saw them smiling at me, trying to comfort me. I looked down at the floor in disbelief… they were fighting for weeks, it couldn’t have ended so abruptly.
Another arm slid around me, this time from the right side. She hugged me tightly, squeezing my face into her chest. I pushed away from her to catch a glimpse of her face. I was bewildered; I never thought she would ever talk to me again. A pleasant feeling began seeping into my body as beads of tears formed in my eyes. They all looked at me with so much compassion in their eyes; it was too good to be true.
